'Everyone Knew Your Name': Beloved Restaurant Near Jersey Shore Is Closing

A popular restaurant for travelers on their way to the Jersey Shore will soon stop serving customers after more than half a century.

Tilton Inn in Egg Harbor Township announced it will be permanently closing in a Facebook post on Thursday, Mar. 14. The restaurant and bar sits on the corner of Tilton Road and Hingston Avenue.

Al and Mildred Ulrich opened Tilton Inn back in 1963.

"At this time, we have decided it is time for our family to close those doors. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our incredible staff and loyal customers. ❤️"

Fans of the Tilton Inn showed their appreciation for the restaurant on Facebook.

"We’ve been coming to the TI for over 40 years," one commenter wrote. "A great group of regulars, great staff, and great owners. We will certainly miss all the laughs with our happy hour friends. The TI will be missed. 💔"

"Tilton Inn will be missed," another person commented. "The Tilton was like "Cheers", everyone knew your name. Best of luck in the future. Hopefully someone will buy it and keep it a great place like it has always been."

The Tilton Inn said it will stay open until Saturday, Apr. 27.
